My name is Roberto

I am an engineer and I deal with telecommunications networks and systems (my full profile is available on LinkedIn).

In my professional life I often enjoy experimenting with open source solutions and products, studying their possible applications in different operational contexts, and as you can imagine this almost means navigating through a myriad of partial information, not always complete documentation and not well defined application scenarios. In short, you need to patiently start investigating how to configure and adapt the product to your area of use, starting with installing and configuring it following the documentation.

Unfortunately, you rarely get the desired result by just following the available documentation, and the installation almost never runs as smoothly as you’d expect. And then, after wondering how the guy who wrote the article managed to make it work without running into your problem, you start thinking, searching the web for someone who has encountered your same difficulty (hoping that he solved the issue of course), sifting through other online sites and blogs… well, you know, this means investing time, sometimes a lot of time.

The idea of this blog comes from there, from trying to put together all the information collected, describing in detail the configuration and use of the tools and products that I have used and use, hoping to simplify the work of those who are in front of my same issues. Of course, by rewriting what I often do on sheets of paper and files scattered around the notebook, I also help myself to put the information in order and remember it, as well as having a point of reference where I know I can always find it.

Last but not least, I decided to write the articles also in Italian, which in my opinion is not insignificant, considering that 99% of the information relating to this specific subject area are available in English.

The site is built using Hugo, an open-source framework for generating static sites. The graphic theme in use is Anatole.
